Who we are

Finaxxia Payments Ltd (BC1524857), 241 - 970 Burrard Street, Vancouver, BC V6Z 2R4, Canada, is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), as they apply to us.

Finaxxia has not yet started operations. Today we collect personal information only when you contact us. The sections on clients below describe what will apply once our services open to approved business clients.

Information we collect

When you contact us: your name, email address, phone number, the company you represent and what you tell us in your message.

When a business applies to become a client: the company's identity and registration details, and the names, dates of birth, addresses, identity documents and ownership details of its directors, beneficial owners and authorized persons, as Canadian anti-money laundering law requires. Identity checks may include a photo of an identity document and a live facial image, which an identity verification provider compares to confirm that the document belongs to the person.

When a client makes payments: payment details, including the payer, the beneficiary, amounts, currencies and the purpose of the payment.

Why we use it

We use personal information to answer your enquiries; to verify the identity of clients and the people behind them; to screen clients and payments against sanctions and other lists; to carry out payments a client instructs; and to meet our legal obligations, including record keeping and reporting under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for marketing without consent.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only as needed with: the regulated payment partners that execute payments; our identity verification and screening providers; our technology and hosting providers; and authorities such as FINTRAC where the law requires it. Some of these providers may store or process information outside Canada, where it is subject to the laws of that country. We require our providers to protect the information and to use it only for the service they provide to us.

How long we keep it

Client identification and transaction records are kept for at least five years, as Canadian anti-money laundering law requires, and longer where another law requires it. Enquiries from people who do not become clients are deleted when they are no longer needed.

Security

We protect personal information with safeguards suited to its sensitivity, including encrypted connections and access limited to the people who need it.
